A simple and facile one-pot method for the synthesis of polyaniline (PANI)–TiO2 (anatase) hybrid from TiCl4 as precursor for Titania was experimented. The presence of acetic acid gave anatase form of TiO2 instead of rutile form with HCl as reported in literature. The synthesized hybrid maintained the same amount of TiO2 as in feed ratio. The presence of chemical bonding between PANI and TiO2 was confirmed by FT-IR analysis. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies reveal that hybrid has comparable conductivity with pristine PANI doped with camphor sulphonic acid (CSA).
Graphical abstractOrdered PANI–TiO2 hybrids through simple and facile one-pot method. Anatase grade TiO2 was obtained in acetic acid medium. Polyaniline formed was of emeraldine form. The regulated polymerization over TiO2 particles gave ordered hybrids.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slideHighlights• Synthesis of TiO2 in three routes was compared. • PANI–TiO2 hybrid synthesized by conventional in situ method and novel one-pot method was compared. • Electrochemical impedance was obtained. • Low electrical resistance observed for the hybrid synthesized by one-pot method in acetic acid.
