Abstract
â¶ Low Cr addition (1%) has a detrimental effect on the efficiency of the studied inhibitor under the experimental conditions adopted. For the tested inhibitor dosage, localized corrosion was found in 1Cr steel for all experimental conditions and on both microstructures. â¶ The depth of the localized attack depends on the duration of pre-corrosion, but the tendency is opposite for both microstructures. â¶ These results emphasize the importance of employing the same chemical composition and microstructure of steel to be used in service when performing inhibitor selection tests.
