Abstract
Welding and joining are indispensable processes for assembling parts and components into units for many engineering applications. Limitations and difficulties with the welding and joining of bulk-metallic glasses (BMGs) are caused by cracks formed in brittle recrystallization compounds produced during welding of interfacial zones of joints. In this study, a sound bonding of a fully amorphous interface of similar S1(Cu60Zr30Ti10)/S1(Cu60Zr30Ti10) and S3(Zr52.5Cu17.9Ni14.6Al10Ti5)/S3(Zr52.5Cu17.9Ni14.6 Al10Ti5) BMGs joints and an interdiffusion amorphous interface layer of dissimilar S1(Cu60Zr30Ti10)/S3(Zr52.5Cu17.9Ni14.6Al10Ti5) BMGs joints was successfully made.
