Abstract

CoFe2O4 nanoplatelets and nanoparticles were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal treatment of Co(DS)2 (cobalt dodecyl sulfate), FeCl3 and NaOH aqueous solution at 120 °C. The products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer. The probable mechanism of the formation of CoFe2O4 nanoplatelets and nanoparticles was discussed.
