Abstract

The solid solutions of (1 − x)BiFeO3 (BFO) − xBa(Zr0.4Ti0.6)O3 (BZT) with x = 0, 0.15, 0.25, 0.40, and 0.50 were prepared by mechano-chemical and solid-state reaction techniques. The distortion in the parent structure (i.e., BFO and BZT) of (Bi1−xBax)(Fe1−xZr0.6xTi0.4x)O3 (BBFZT) system has been estimated by the tolerance factors (t), which are significantly different from the ideal perovskite (t = 1). The dielectric constant and the loss tangent of BFO were found to be decreased on increasing BZT contents in the solid solutions. The values of loss tangent, leakage current and electrical conductivity of BBFZT were significantly improved on increasing BZT contents of BBFZT.
