Abstract

A new natural lacquer was synthesized using a precious metal colloid and an organic silicone compound. The new lacquer had strong UV and water resistances. The viscosities were from 2000 to 6000 mPa s−1 at 20 °C, and the molecular distributions estimated by GPC were not significantly different, suggesting that the new lacquer hybridized with an organic silicone compound and a precious metal colloid was stable and suitable for use as a paint. In addition, the liquid and solid UV spectra of the new lacquer film showed almost the same absorption as the Au colloid alone at 523 nm, implying that the distribution of the precious metal colloid in the lacquer sap was homogeneous. The drying mechanism and other physical properties were also examined by RPT, DOI and DSC measurements.
