Abstract
Dependences of crystallization time on microstructures and superconducting properties such as critical current density (Jc) were investigated for YBa2Cu3Oy (Y123) films by metal organic deposition (MOD) using starting solutions with trifluoroacetate (TFA) salts. We have prepared the Y123 films on Hastelloy C-276® metal tapes with CeO2/Gd2Zr2O7 buffer layers at various crystallization times and investigated the microstructures and Jc properties. As a result, Jc depended strongly on crystallization time and showed a peak at optimum time. Microstructure observations suggested that the cause of the Jc degradation with longtime crystallization was the decomposition of Y123 crystal grains.
