Abstract

The present work was devoted to synthesize magnetically tunable polymer composites (PCs) using Fe3O4 ferrofluid. Ferrofluid was prepared and stabilized using chemical co-precipitation technique. Further, appropriate ferrofluid was chosen for the polymerization. Polymer composite was subjected to magnetic field during polymerization for two configurations: (i) field induced oriented system (FIOS) and (ii) zero-field randomly oriented system (ZROS). Magnetic measurement of such PC was carried out by magnetization and ac susceptibility at room temperature and 77–298 K, respectively. The magnetic properties of PC were investigated as a function of: (i) texturing field, (ii) orientation of easy axes and (iii) volume fraction of particles (filler). These results are discussed in the paper.
