Abstract

•Observation of EIA/EIT resonances using degenerate two level systems (DTLSs) in metastable 84Kr/83Kr atoms.•Investigation on EIA peak for close transition (13/2-15/2) of metastable 83Kr atom by varying control laser power and applied magnetic field.•Measurement of Lande g-factor (gF) of the level F=13/2 in 4p55s[3/2]2 manifold of metastable 83Kr atom.

We report electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) and transparency (EIT) resonances of sub-natural linewidth in degenerate two level systems (DTLSs) of metastable 84Kr (84Kr⁎) and 83Kr (83Kr⁎) atoms. Using the spectrally narrow EIA signals obtained corresponding to the closed hyperfine transition 4p55s[3/2]2(F=13/2) to 4p55p[5/2]3(F′=15/2)(F′=15/2) in 83Kr⁎ atom, we have measured the Landé g-factor (gFgF) for the lower hyperfine level involved in this transition by application of small values of magnetic field of few Gauss.
