Abstract
We proposed using the asymmetric ellipsoid-like cavity structure to simplify the dense whispering gallery mode for the microsphere cavity, which have been widely appplied in the scientific research and engineering field with high Q value and minimal model volume. In our work, a low-cost and mature methods have been exploited to fabricate the asymmetric ellipsoid-like WGMR by melted two rotationally symmetric microspheres with identical diameter. And, the degree of the deformation can accurately be in a large scope (0%â¤Î·â¤14%) by controlling the melting time. Under this method, an ultrahigh Q value (107) and single-mode optical resonant cavity have been fabricated, which hold great potential in optics, sensors, and quantum physics fields.
