•In this work, a method for high-order single sideband (SSB) modulation is demonstrated.•The design of the 2nd and 3rd order SSB modulators are presented and investigated based on simulations.•The demonstrated high-order SSB modulators can be used for advanced optical comb generation when they are configured in recirculating frequency shifter (RFS).•Optical comb with enlarged carrier-to-carrier spacing can be obtained and thus applications including wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) communication, optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) can be benefited.
In this work, a method for high-order single sideband (SSB) modulation is demonstrated. Extended frequency shifting can be obtained based on the high-order SSB modulator. The design of the 2nd and 3rd order SSB modulators are presented and investigated based on simulations.
