Abstract
The far-zone scattered spectrum of a polychromatic light wave on scattering from a semisoft boundary medium is discussed. It is shown that spectral changes and spectral switches can be produced in the scattered field, and the direction at which the spectral switch occurs is closely related to the boundary of the dielectric susceptibility of the scatterer. This phenomenon may provide an approach to determine the boundary of the scatterer by the measurements of the scattered spectrum.
