Abstract
In this paper, the effect of frequency selective fading (FF) in IM/DD PolMux-OFDM system has been theoretically analyzed. To resist the FF effect in the IM/DD PolMux-OFDM system, the use of polarization time block code in the high frequency subcarriers of PolMux-OFDM symbols is proposed and experimentally investigated. The experimental results show that when the 53.8 Gb/s PolMux-OFDM is transmitted over 20 km SSMF without optical amplifiers, the bit error rate (BER) of system performance is effectively improved by adopting the proposed scheme.
