Abstract
All-optical clock recovery and data regeneration are simultaneously achieved by use of a single fiber-optical parametric oscillator (FOPO) with idler feedback control circuit for the first time. A return-to-zero (RZ) 3R regeneration is experimentally demonstrated by optimizing the operating parameters of the FOPO. Experimental results show that the performance of extinction ratio and timing jitter for the regenerated signal are improved in terms of transfer function slopes of 1.9 and 0.16, respectively, and the maximal receiver sensitivity improvement is up to 3.42 dB.
