Abstract
Photon-pair generation in randomly poled nonlinear crystals is analyzed for different orders of stochastic quasi-phase-matching. Properties of photon pairs are compared using their spectral and temporal properties and the amount of entanglement. Photon-pair generation rates comparable to those of chirped periodically poled crystals are found. Considering a poled LiNbO3 crystal as an example, practical usefulness of third-order stochastic quasi-phase-matching is demonstrated.
