Abstract
Within the accuracy of the first-order Born approximation, we investigate the scattering of a Hermite-Gaussian beam on a Gaussian Schell-model random medium. The spectral density and spectral degree of coherence of the far-zone scattered field are derived and some numerical results are calculated. It is shown that the distributions of the normalized spectral density and the modulus of the spectral degree of coherence depend strongly on the correlation length of the scatterer, the transverse mode numbers in the x and y directions and the initial transverse Gaussian half width of the Hermite-Gaussian beam.
