Abstract

In this paper the single frequency, monolithic Nd:YVO4/YVO4/KTP green (532 nm) laser is presented. The single mode operation was obtained using birefringent filter formed by a YVO4 beam displacer and a KTP crystal. The laser performances were improved by elimination of parasitic oscillations propagating along the beam displacer extraordinary ray. The single frequency operation temperature range was extended to 11.5 °C and the output power increased to 160 mW at 532 nm compared to 85 mW before optimization. The optical to optical efficiency (808–532 nm) was 16.8%. The linewidth and the long term passive frequency stability under the free running conditions were Δν<100 kHz and 1×10−8, respectively. The output power stability was at the level of ±0.75%. Presented monolithic, single frequency laser operating at 532 nm may be used as an excellent source for measurement systems like laser vibrometry and interferometry.
