Abstract
► An inverted-Y system is proposed for two-dimensional atom localization. ► Two orthogonal standing-waves induce position-dependent atom-light interaction. ► The maximum probability of finding the atom in a particular position is 1/4. ► Quantum interference in spontaneous emission and absorption lead to the results.
