Abstract
												Guided and surface modes in the chiral nihility fiber consisting of a chiral nihility metamaterial core with an achiral cladding have been investigated. The dispersion equations of guided and surface modes in the chiral nihility fiber and their cutoff frequencies are derived. Dispersion curves of guided and surface modes are presented and the effect of chirality parameter on dispersion curves is discussed in detail. Some novel propagation characteristics are found.
