Abstract
We show that one can control the path of an optical field propagating in a waveguide with another optical field in a cavity–waveguide system. The strong coupling between the two optical fields is achieved using cavity–QED based on dipole-induced transparency and an optical Stark shift. Numerical simulations suggest that the optical switching is possible even when the intensity of the control field approaches the single photon level.
