Abstract
A theoretical discussion is given of quantum statistical properties of outgoing light pulses after they have been stored in a medium of atoms in the tripod configuration. Such a system enables one to split or mix light signals at the storage stage. By changing the parameters of the driving fields used for light storage and release it is possible to control the photon distribution in the two output channels. The particular cases discussed here are a generalized Hong-Ou-Mandel interference, storing of squeezed states and a homodyne signal analysis.
