Abstract
Micro-cavity induced optical data timing skews (ODTS) in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) on-chip optical interconnect are investigated. In a 10 Gb/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ) WDM system, potentially 28 ps timing skews can be induced by the linewidth non-uniformities among the ring-resonator-based devices, which leads to 3.75 dB signal eye opening penalty. It is shown the coupled type filter structure can help reduce optical data timing skews.
