Abstract
The nonlinear optical properties of 5-oxo-4,5-dihydroindeno [1,2-b] pyrans which belongs to indenopyrans family have been investigated by single-beam transmission techniques. Using both the z-scan and the moiré deflectrometry techniques, we measured the nonlinear refractive index in order of 10−7 cm2/W with negative sign and nonlinear absorption coefficient in order of 10−3 cm/W. This molecule exhibits the strong two-photon absorption and therefore, the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility, ∣χ(3)∣ = 1.0 × 10−5 esu was measured for this material.
