Abstract
Full analysis of a distributed temperature and strain sensor (DTSS), based on stimulated Brillouin amplification effect in an optical fiber, is given. Some new rules, e.g. optimized launch power, have been found and the optimized design guidelines for short and long distance DTSS are presented.
