Abstract
We present our recent progress towards a practical implementation of a remote sensing measurement technique of oceanic temperature profiles. Our approach combines the advantages of fiber amplifiers with the high spectral resolution of Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filters. In this paper, we focus on the edge filter characteristics of an excited state Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filter at moderate pump powers as the receiver unit for the Brillouin-lidar.
