Abstract
Transformational optics is shown to enhance the control of the electromagnetic wave trajectories within metamaterials with unconventional functionalities such as a beam splitter, a toroidal carpet and a black hole, all of which are specially designed for surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) propagating on a metal plate.
► Splitting of a SPP beam into two beam. ► Confinement of light in a toroidal invisibility carpet. ► Modelling of an optical SPP black hole.
