Abstract
► In quantum wires, acoustic scattering controls the transport at low temperatures. ► Traditionally one assumes negligible energy and equipartition law for the phonons. ► Theory of low-temperature transport in quantum wires is developed. ► Finite phonon energy and the full phonon distribution are taken into account. ► Theory yields significantly different characteristics for GaAs-GaAlAs wires.
