► Spin-orbit interaction and electric field effects on the electronic structure of a cubic quantum dot. ► Ground state energy splitting does not depend on the spin-orbit interaction. ► First excited state energy splitting obviously depend on the spin-orbit interaction and its strengths. ► Spin-orbit energy splitting is independent of electric field strength.
