Abstract

Recently, we have presented a new kind of function photonic crystals [X.-Y. Wu, B.-J. Bai, J.-H. Yang, X.-J. Liu, N. Ba, Y.-H. Wu, Q.-C. Wang, Physica E 43 (2011) 1694]. In this paper, we study one-dimensional function photonic crystals of ladder type, and give the effect of incident angle and the half period thickness on dispersion relation. Further, we research the characteristic of light transmission in the ladder type function PCs with defect and without defect. Besides, we give the effect of different incidence angle, different absorption coefficient and different structure form on the relation between transmissivity and light wavelength.

► Without defect, the distribution of electric field intensity is period changed in the function PCs. ► The distribution of electric field intensity is enhanced in the range of defect layer. ► The band gap become width and red shift when the incidence angle increase. ► When the absorption coefficient increase, the defect model become small and even disappear. ► When the period number N increase, the function PCs defect model become small.
