Abstract
We study the resonant coupling between longitudinal optical (LO) surface vibrations and electron and hole states in silicon nanocrystals (Nc's), in the framework of the Fröhlich interaction. The Nc's are considered as a core sphere of Si embedded in a host matrix of SiO2. The strength of the electronic states–LO phonons coupling is discussed and results concerning the dependence of the coupling with the Nc's size are presented.
