Abstract

In this paper, we investigate bi-periodic photonic crystal structures, including photonic crystal waveguides, bends and splitters. In these structures, periodicity of the two rows next to guiding region altered. It is shown that bi-periodic structures can show much better performances compared to their conventional counterparts. Then a new bi-periodic Y-splitter is presented. The transmission window corresponding to the conventional Y-splitter has been widened and increased in amplitude in the new bi-periodic Y-splitter.
