•We find model parameters of c-Si cells using regression and interpolation.•We examine the effect of temperature and irradiation on model parameters.•We find that saturation current and ideality factor are irradiance dependant.•Irradiance intensity slightly influences space charge recombination current.
In this paper, we discuss the proposed method of identifying the parameters of photovoltaic cells/modules with the help of curve fitting by using both analytical and statistical methods. Increased computing power in recent years enables us to find fast and accurate solutions to non-linear equations and allows a wide range of use of this method. Evaluation was done on computed I–V curves with chosen model parameters and also on samples of mono-crystalline silicon cells. In the latter case the samples were measured with a Pasan cell tester IIc under variable conditions, model parameters were calculated and the model was compared with measured data.
