Abstract

In this communication, dissociation pressures for clathrate hydrates of the carbon disulfide + nitrogen or carbon dioxide + water system are reported in the (275.7–281.7) and (274.1–281.2) K temperature ranges, respectively. An isochoric pressure search method was used to perform the measurements. The aforementioned hydrate dissociation data are compared with selected experimental data from the literature for the dissociation conditions of nitrogen and carbon dioxide simple hydrates. It is shown while carbon disulfide has thermodynamic promotion effect on the nitrogen clathrate hydrates it has, however, negligible effect on carbon dioxide hydrates.

► Dissociation pressures for hydrates of the CS2+N2/CO2+H2O system are reported. ► An isochoric pressure search method was used to perform the measurements. ► The obtained dissociation data are compared with selected data from the literature. ► It is shown that CS2 has promotion effect on nitrogen clathrate hydrates. ► Negligible effect of CS2 has been found on carbon dioxide hydrates.
