Abstract
Oxygen interaction with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) has been studied with x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. We found that at low pressures, molecular oxygen does not interact with clean and pristine SWCNTs, or even with low energy Ne+ bombarded SWCNTs, and that irradiation with 300 eV O2+ ions results in oxygen chemisorption.
