Abstract
In this work we study, both experimentally and theoretically, in-plane localized ring patterns of photoluminescence (PL) from indirect excitons in GaAs/AlGaAs coupled quantum wells (QWs). These spatially pinned PL centers (PLCs) are attributed to transverse current filaments which cross the structure and inject hot electrons in the QWs. We model the experimental data with a set of drift–diffusion and Poisson equations, a thermalization equation and a quantum mass action law. The quantum statistical corrections are explicitly included in the description.
