Abstract
Direct pyrolysis of cellulose under Argon can surprisingly produce nanoporous carbon of surface areas as high as 2600Â m2/g. It is the very low flow rate of Argon of 10 CCM during pyrolysis that facilitates the high nanoporosity.198
