Abstract
⺠We are using the transfer matrix method to study the optical absorption in thin metal films. ⺠We show that nickel has an optimum thickness for solar absorption of around 10-13 nm. ⺠The similar magnitude of real(n) and imag(n) for nickel appears to give rise to this.
