Abstract
► A subroutine, based on parametric FE modelling technique, was developed. ► Realistic mechanical behaviour of nonwovens can be predicted with this model. ► Direct modelling of fibres is strategic for modelling nonhomogeneous structures. ► Deformation behaviour of nonwovens under complex loading can be predicted. ► The developed model reduces trial-and-error in designing nonwoven materials.
