Abstract
► Fully atomistic non-equilibrium molecular dynamics of hyper velocity impact on copper. ► Two regimes observed: at low velocity impacts the sample remain crystalline but at high velocity it becomes amorphous. ► Estimation at high impact velocity, namely larger than 19.1 km/s, the sample should melt.
