► Uniaxial mechanical properties of perforated hollow sphere structures are simulated. ► The influence of the joint's shape is considered in a non-homogeneous pattern. ► Young's modulus and the initial yield stress rise as the joint's thickness falls. ► Young's modulus and the initial yield stress rise as the joint's diameter rises. ► Poisson's ratio is approximately the same for different joint shapes.
