Abstract
► Wavy interfaces feature biological composites with superior mechanical property. ► We use cohesive crack model to investigate the fracture feature of wavy interfaces. ► Effects of two-level hierarchical sinusoidal geometry on toughness are studied. ► An interface with a hierarchical sinusoidal structure has higher fracture toughness. ► This study helps the optimal design of advanced biomimetic materials.
