Abstract
We found two orthogonal pairs of pure fracture modes in DCBs under bending moments. The two pairs are distinct from each other in Euler beam theory. They coincide with each other in Timoshenko beam theory. We proved that a mixed fracture mode can be partitioned using the pure modes. FEM simulations validate the findings.
