Abstract
The stress intensity factors at the tip of a crack approaching an interface are determined numerically using finite element analysis. In order to investigate the effect of mixed mode on the fracture parameters a bi-axial specimen made half of alumina and half of zirconia was considered with a 45° inclined crack. The effects of crack length, shielding and anti-shielding were also addressed.
