Abstract
The piezoelectric strip under mechanical and electric loads is studied by using the two-dimensional generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method. The discretized equations of boundary condition for stress and electric potential function are directly applied into the discretized governing equations to make the computation of stress and electric potential function. There is no overshoot and no Gibbs effect of the local symmetric pressures on the upper and lower strip edges. The GDQ numerical solutions of stress and electric potential function are obtained for traction-free boundary conditions on both end surfaces of the strip. The GDQ solution provides an efficient method for the calculation of stress and electric potential function in the piezoelectric materials.
