Abstract

Under the assumption of small deformation, the dissipation of energy in particle-filled polymeric materials can be roughly divided into viscous dissipation and damage dissipation. Decoupling of these two types of energy dissipation is important in order to design the particle size and the weight ratio of particles to the matrix that the particles are filled in the particle-filled polymeric composite materials. This paper presents a study on the calculations of dissipation energy and the investigation of the influence of the average strain of matrix, interfacial adhesive energy, particle size dispersion, initial volume fraction of particles, average radius of particles and relaxation time of matrix on both the viscosity dissipation energy and damage dissipation energy.
