Abstract
This paper presents experimental data on droplet entrainment from a wetted wire (stainless steel diameter 280μm) exposed to a gas cross flow using nitrogen as the gas phase and n-decane as the liquid phase. The system pressure ranged from 600 to 1600 kPa and the gas flow from 30 to 100 NL/min (estimated from 6 to 35 m/s). The selected binary system has a surface tension of 23 mN/m at 23 °C.High speed photography was used to gather the droplet and film data from the experiments. The resulting droplet mean diameter was compared with droplet entrainment data for annular flow.
