Abstract
Microstructure and texture evolution of an AZ31 magnesium alloy during cold roll was investigated. Shear bands formed and fine recrystallized grains appeared in the shear bands at the reduction of 22% during cold roll process. Texture of hot-extruded AZ31 magnesium alloy can be expressed by (0002) texture, while those of cold roll sheet were characterized by (0002) texture with a double-peak distribution, showing that basal texture tilted about ± 10°away from the normal direction toward the rolling direction.
