Abstract
Low-cost porous ceramics with controllable pore size were prepared by using natural clay and silica as starting materials and organic polymer sponge as template. The properties of the resulting ceramic material, such as pore size, porosity and mechanical strength, were characterized using different techniques. The results show that this novel preparation procedure provides an easy pathway to produce porous ceramics according to specification for a range of applications.
