Abstract
A computational framework for computing taper and twist profiles for chiral fibers fabricated from heated bi-component drawn glass filaments is developed, with full coupling between the momentum and temperature fields in both the glass and the surrounding air. A method for solving the inverse problem, in which the takeup holder velocity is varied with a predefined program in order to obtain a desired taper shape, is developed and illustrated.
