Abstract
In the present work we introduce a micro/nano-structured α+β Ti-based low-alloy produced by the tilt-casting method and subjected to subsequent thermo-mechanical treatment. After hot dual-axial forging at 900 °C, subsequent heating at 700 °C and water quenching a Ti94Fe3Cu3+1000 ppm of boron alloy, containing inexpensive alloying elements, showed an ultimate tensile strength value of about 950 MPa and percentage elongation of about 5.2%. It is shown that the intensive forging treatment and subsequent heat treatment are leading to significantly improved mechanical properties of such an alloy compared to the as-cast state.
